John Jairo Lugo

John Jairo, a life-long activist from Colombia, has lived in New Haven since 1991. He is the founder and lead organizer of Unidad Latina en Acción (ULA), a grassroots collective dedicated to immigrant and workers' rights in New Haven. Through his work with ULA, he has led successful campaigns against wage theft, won a range of victories against policies that criminalize immigrant communities, and helped to prevent a number of deportations.

Brett Davidson

Brett is the Founder and Director of Connecticut Bail Fund, a community-led organization that pays bail for pretrial detainees who cannot afford it. He is also a co-founder of the New Haven Sex Workers Advocacy Network (SWAN), a grassroots organization that works to eradicate all forms of violence against street-based sex workers in New Haven.
